I love you like the calm of the sweet and star-lit hours
I love you like the balm of early jasmine flowers
I love you like the last sweet smile of fading day
That lingers as we cast our eyes on raptures past
I love you like the tone of some soft-breathing flute
Whose soul for me alone awakes when all is mute
If I could someway, somehow write the beauty I see in your eyes
The ages to come would but say this poet surely lies
I count no more my wasted tears, no echo of their fall
I mourn no more my lonesome years, this moment atones for all
I fear not what time or what fate may burden my heart or brow
So strong this love so late, our souls shall keep it now
