SUN AND MOON

Love seeketh not itself to please
Not for itself has it one little care
But for another’s ease remaking
Heaven from hellish despair
A truth that’s told with bad intent
Beats all the lies we invent

To those that dwell within the night
They say that God comes in the form of light
But in human form will display
To all those living for today
The new full moon so bright
With mute delight smiles on the night

The arts grow cold as we grow old
Commerce settles on every tree
Resist desire, wise men say
Who can because theirs is so weak
I told my friend, my wrath it did end
My foe I told not, so my wrath it did grow

The land of dreams is better far
Than the first light of the morning star
Every harlot was a virgin
And every virgin still lives
Where it went and how it’s spent
The method of knowledge has always been experiment

He who binds himself to joy
Now or later will see it destroyed
But those who kiss joy as it flies by
Live in eternal sunrise
He who doubts what he sees cannot believe
If sun and moon ever doubt, instantly they’d go out
If sun and moon ever doubt, instantly they’d go out
If sun and moon ever doubt, instantly they’d go out
Sun and moon
