TEARS WHEN THEY FALL

Tears when they fall are such lonely things
I want to wipe ‘em up and dry them for you
Tears when they fall are such wet little things
I’ve seen them dry on the skin when nobody’s there
They run down the cheek, they hang off the chin
Where do they begin and where do they end?

I dreamed I had a magic wand and held it in my hand
I dreamed I’d never have to see you suffer again
I was up on a hill, your face was in the wind
I waved my magic wand for you again and again

Tears when they fall are such sad little things
I thought I’d had enough, Ha!, I’ve still got more
The eyes in my head, they’re nearly swollen shut
My throat is dry, but I can’t tell you why

I defend myself from these moist little things
That have no beginning and have no ending
I dreamed I’d never have to say goodbye to you again
I dreamed I’d never have to shed a tear for you again
I see you in a place now where all your pain will end
I’ll meet you in that place, just the two of us again
Tears when they fall, no, you don’t have to be
No, you don’t have to be alone
