IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

If I had my life to live over, I would have opened up when I was young
With a special someone who could say one on one, “Let me show you how it is done”
But that’s the thing about living, two lives are the most that you get
One to learn with and one to live with, but most of us settle for one

If I had my life to live over, I would have asked for a little more help
But I hope not from those just striking a pose, take it from a fool who knows
If I had my life to live over, I wouldn’t let myself get so hurt
By the people I fought, or the people I thought could have loved me but they forgot

If I had my life to live over, I wouldn’t be so concerned about
Why they don’t care and why they’re not fair, I’d just get my sorry ass out
As it is we tend to do over all the stupid stuff done to us
Attila the Hun and the Prodigal Son, in the end who can say who has won?

If I had my life to live over, I would have opened up when I was young
With a special someone who could say one on one, “Let me show you how it is done”
But that’s the thing about living, two lives are the most that you get
One to learn with and one to live with, but most of us settle for one

If I had my life to live over
